Colombia only produces washed Arabica coffee. There are three primary varieties grown in Colombia, and the coffee is referred to by the region in which it is grown.
"Excelso" is a grading term for exportable coffee from Colombia, not related to variety or cupping profile. EP (European Preparation) specifies that the raw beans are all hand sorted to remove any defective beans and foreign material.
This Organic Coffee is Winey bodied with notes of orange peel, dark chocolate and a caramel sweetness with a nutty finish. Colombia is the second largest producer of coffee in the world and the largest producer of washed, Arabica coffee.
Antioquia/Medellin is one of the larger coffee growing areas in Colombia. This region produces the majority of Colombian coffee that is categorised by bean size grade (e.g. Excelso). Medellins have a medium body and are typically nutty and sweet rather than bright and juicy. The cup is well balanced and can be enjoyed at any time of day!
